Andotrans Team Torrentó comes close to the podium in Cheste with Khouri and Pylypenko keeps progressing

Andotrans Team Torrentó has completed the second round of the Spanish Superbike Championship. This weekend the team contested the two races at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit (Cheste, Valencia). The results are positive, as the team’s two riders continue to improve as the season progresses. Harry Khouri came close to a podium finish with a strong fourth place in Saturday’s race.

Thursday’s free practice, held in very hot conditions, saw both Supersport Next Generation riders finish with a good feeling. Friday was a different story, with rain throughout the day. The team decided to keep the Yamaha R6s off track for the day. Everything was in place for Saturday.

In qualifying the Australian was 9th fastest (1:37.127) and the Ukrainian 27th (1:40.434)

Khouri brought the most joy. In the first race he got off to a fast start, kept a good pace throughout and overtook his rivals to finish 4th, his best result in the championship so far. Pylypenko, on the other hand, was unlucky and retired: two rivals collided on the first lap, he was unable to avoid them and crashed, fortunately without consequences.

Sunday was also satisfactory for the team. Khouri started from 4th place on the grid and although he lost a few positions at the start, he maintained a high pace throughout the race and finished a good 7th. Pylypenko went from strength to strength and finished 22nd. This is also his best result in a race of the championship.

The next round of the Spanish Superbike Championship will take place at the Estoril circuit in Portugal on the weekend of 6th and 7th July.

FERRAN TORRENTÓ
Team Manager

“I consider the weekend as positive. The team is confirming an upward trend. Harry was fighting for the podium and this is a reflection of the good work he has done. Both races demanded a high level of riding and he was always in the front positions. He is to be congratulated on these results. Sviat is going from strength to strength. This is only his second test with the team and at 15 years of age he is very young. This season he has to learn and consolidate. It is a good sign that in the last race he moved up positions and increased his pace. We will continue to work to be even more prepared for Estoril. We will go for better results.”
