Andotrans Team Torrentó starts the season in Jerez with good sensations

The 2024 Spanish Superbike Championship is already underway. This weekend the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto hosted the first round of the season and Andotrans Team Torrentó completed the first two races of the year with exciting results.

The team’s two riders, competing in the Supersport Next Generation 600 category, finished the practice sessions on Thursday and Friday with positive results. Harry Khouri was close to the front positions and Sviat Pylypenko used the sessions to continue to build up his pace, just 10 days after surgery on his collarbone injury.

The Australian was 11th fastest in qualifying (1:44.988), confirming his good feeling. The Ukrainian, limited by his physical condition, was the 29th fastest (1:49.620).

The best news came in the races, especially from Harry Khouri. In Saturday’s race he got off to a fast start and maintained a good pace, which was the key to his 8th place finish. In the second race, on Sunday, he started from 7th and defended this position to celebrate his best result of the championship. Finally, in both races the Australian gained an extra position as a result of penalties imposed on other riders for technical irregularities. Khouri finished 7th and 6th respectively.

Sviat Pylypenko, for his part, finished the first race in 23rd place, making up six places from his grid position. In the second race he decided to retire due to severe pain in his collarbone.

The next round of the Spanish Superbike Championship will be held at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit (Cheste, Valencia) on the weekend of 1st and 2nd of June.

FERRAN TORRENTÓ
Team Manager

“We are happy with the performance of the team. The weekend’s results are an exciting start. Harry Khouri has made a step forward and managed to finish in the top 10 for the first time. He is working well and has taken a step forward from last season. He should be congratulated. On the other hand, Sviat Pylypenko’s presence in Jerez was marked by his injury. He was unable to take part in pre-season and this was the first time he had ridden since his operation. He was in doubt until the last minute and decided to race without taking any risks in order to get to know the team and the track better. He has been brave and we thank him for the effort he has made these days. We will continue to work hard to get stronger and get better results at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit.”
