Andotrans Team Torrentó completes another season in ESBK
The Spanish Superbike Championship finished this weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya. Andotrans Team Torrentó contested the seventh round of the year, ending a new season in the elite of national motorcycling.
For the team, the last competition of 2023 was more complicated than expected. The set-up of the bikes was good and the motivation of the riders was high, but in the end the race results were not what they had hoped for.
The riders completed the free practice sessions in a positive manner, despite the fact that the rain on Friday morning made it difficult to ride on the track. On Saturday the riders went into the race with the confidence of two good qualifying sessions.
In SBK, Marc Alcoba achieved the 7th fastest time in qualifying and in the first race he was determined to stay in the top positions. A good race pace rewarded him with a 6th place finish.
Sunday’s race did not go as well. The team wanted to make a step forward, but the bike suffered an electrical failure during the race and prevented them from getting the best out of the Yamaha R1. It was a shame not to be able to fight for the lead and finish in 10th place.
In Supersport Next Generation, Harry Khouri and Abdulla Alqubaisi went from strength to strength during Saturday’s race. Starting from 21st and 31st positions respectively, they moved up several places thanks to good management of the R6: 14th and 25th. Sviat Pylypenko, making his ESBK debut at Montmeló, failed to qualify for the first race, missing the grid by just one place.
However, the young Ukrainian was able to compete in Sunday’s race alongside his team-mates from Australia and Qatar. The results in the final race were similar to the previous one (17th and 25th), but Pylypenko started last and increased his pace in the final laps to finish 27th.
The Andotrans Team Torrentó will prepare another powerful project for 2024 and will start the season with a lot of strength.
