Alqubaisi and Khouri beat their best results of the season

Alqubaisi and Khouri beat their best results of the season

End of the sixth round of the Spanish Superbike Championship (ESBK). At the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto the Andotrans Team Torrentó finishes another week of competition: this time with mixed feelings.

The good news was in the Supersport Next Generation category. Our riders Abdulla Alqubaisi and Harry Khouri set good times in the free practice sessions on Thursday and Friday.

For Saturday’s race the Qatari started from 19th place and the Australian from 15th. Both made up positions at the start and showed good pace as the laps progressed. In the end, Alqubaisi finished 7th and Khouri 11th. Once again they beat their best results of the season.

As for Sunday’s race, there was little to explain as it was cancelled after two red flags and the stewards stuck to the rules. In the first, Alqubaisi was involved in an accident and crashed while trying to avoid hitting another rider. After the restart another accident forced the race to be stopped again.

The only negative in Jerez was the absence of Marc Alcoba. Our rider in the premier class SBK was only able to take part in the free practice sessions. During these sessions he was strong, always among the best times. However, in the final session on Friday he crashed and the young Alcanar rider was taken to hospital where he spent the night under observation.

Fortunately the consequences were minor and he will be fully recovered in a few days.

The Andotrans Team Torrentó is looking forward to finishing the season in the best possible way. The final round of the Spanish Superbike Championship will take place on the weekend of 18th and 19th November at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

FERRAN TORRENTÓ
Team Manager

“A strange weekend. We are sad for Marc. He gave us a good scare with his crash, but the most important thing now is that he recovers well and gets back to his best in Barcelona. We are happy for Harry and Adbulla. The team is working well and the effort was reflected in Saturday’s race, where they achieved their best results of the year. It’s a shame we couldn’t race on Sunday.”
